| La patrouille des glaciers | Boris Bilhah, and Luke Sandro LUCI TECQMENNE
The race:
Glacier Patrol is a famous ski mountaineering race held every two years by the Swiss army.
The course needs to be done in teams of three will take us from Zermatt (1616 m alitude) to Verbier (1520 m) via Tete Blanche (3724 m), Col de Bertol (3279 m), Arolla (1980 m ), the neck of Ridmatten (2919 m), the Rosablanche (3160 m), the Col de la Chaux (2940), a distance of 53 km, an elevation gain of 3994 m and a vertical drop of 4090 m.
We will start on Friday 24 / 4 at 22:00 for a very long night that we will deal with the altitude and cold (in the latest edition to the wind chill was around Tete Blanche - 20 ° C while it was + - 10 ° to Zermatt when we left.
This is a test in which the best ski mountaineers in the world that are semi-professionals and amateurs. The race record is 6h18'48''but there are teams that finish painfully over 17 hours. Our team :
Boris BILH 41, married to .... Two children. Boris is a mountain guide since 2002 and the first aid gendarme Peloton de Gendarmerie de Haute Montagne in Chamonix for 10 years. If a mountain professional, it is first a lover of all activities performed in mountain climbing, ice climbing (3 rd in the World Cup in the United States in 2008!), Ski mountaineering,. .. Boris has participated in six Pierra Menta, the other major ski mountaineering race takes place over four days in the Beaufortain (best result: 60 th).
LUCI Sandro 40 years living with Corinne, a son. Sandro could have been professional mountain guide was sucking before becoming a lawyer and judge. When not exercising his professional activity, Sandro travels the world (preferably mountain) on skis, on foot, bicycle, CV 2, .... is a judge-climber-adventurer. He participates in ski mountaineering races since 2005 and has three to his credit Pierra Menta (137 th best place).
Luke TECQMENNE 48, married to Victoria, four children. Even if he wanted Luke could not have become a professional mountain that does not stop being passionate about ski alpinsime, his sport since 2000. Luke 5 Pierra Menta under his belt (best 137 th) and was a member of the Belgian team of "Cool Runnings ski mountaineering" collecting the last few seats at the European Championships 2001 and 2002 World and 2004. Luke Sandro and participate in team racing ski mountaineering since 2007. Luke was very painfully over the Patrouille des Glaciers in 2006 and 2008.
Our team was formed in memory of an adventure that brought us together in 2004 when Sandro and Luke - who tried the trilogy Mont Blanc du Tacul, Mont Maudit, Mont Blanc on skis - found themselves stranded for 36 hours in a storm snow. The gendarmes of PGHM - including Boris - has helped them get out of this terrible adventure.
Beyond the purely sporting our rope symbolic wanted to give meaning to his participation in the Patrouille des Glaciers, might as well suffer so much suffering for the cause (note Boris suffer much less than Sandro and Sandro will suffer unless Luc).
From there came the idea of trying to raise money for a organization that helps disadvantaged people. We were looking for a small association - who does not spend donations for operating costs - coming to the aid of a people living in the mountains. That's when we thought TOKSPO an association based in Faverges near Annecy. |
